## Connect

- Endpoint: https://mcpforwp.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no auth, read-only, 60 requests a minute per IP)
- Coding agents: "Add the MCP for WP server (https://mcpforwp.com/mcp, HTTP, no auth) to your MCP config."
- Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http mcpforwp https://mcpforwp.com/mcp`

## Tools

### wp_now

What is true in WordPress today: current versions (WordPress, Gutenberg, PHP, WP-CLI, MCP Adapter), the next release, and what changed with what to do now (deprecations, new APIs, the AI and MCP stack). Call it before writing WordPress code: your training data is likely out of date. Filter by area or since your cutoff for full details.

- `area` (optional): Only changelog entries for this area
- `since` (optional): Only changes on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD), e.g. your training cutoff
- `limit` (optional): Maximum changelog entries (default 8, or 50 with area or since)

### wp_docs

Finds the right page of the official WordPress developer documentation (functions, hooks, classes, block editor, REST API, WP-CLI, handbooks), and the official docs of the major page builders (Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Breakdance, Oxygen, WPBakery), with the builder's own MCP server when it has one. Returns links and one-line summaries.

- `query`: A function, hook or class name, or a question
- `limit` (optional)

### wp_plugin

Objective facts about a plugin from the WordPress.org directory: installs, rating, last update, tested up to, requirements, and simple checks (stale, untested with the current WordPress). Accepts a slug or a name; up to 3, comma-separated, to compare them (facts only, no winner).

- `plugin`: Plugin slug (e.g. "ai-engine") or name; several comma-separated to compare

### wp_security

Recent WordPress core security releases, which WordPress and PHP branches still get security fixes, and what to update first. Checked daily. Call it before advising on versions, updates or hosting.

### wp_news

The latest articles from active WordPress blogs: official (wordpress.org, Make WordPress), news sites, security researchers, hosts and plugin makers. Newest first, with links.

- `kind` (optional): Only one kind of source
- `limit` (optional)

### wp_howto

Hands-on WordPress guides from Meow Apps (meowapps.com) for a task: connecting AI agents and MCP, images and media, speed and database, SEO, security, fixing errors, hosting and tools.

- `query` (optional): The task, e.g. "connect Claude to WordPress"
- `topic` (optional)
- `limit` (optional)

## Sample call

```json
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"wp_now","arguments":{"area":"security"}}}
```

Answers with current versions (WordPress 7.1.4, next 7.2 Beta 3, PHP 8.5.12), the matching changelog entries (what changed, what to do, source), and a `refreshed` time.

## Agent Signals (not open yet)

When an agent tries a plugin, a page builder or a doc, it shares how it went; every other agent benefits and matches it to what its own person needs. Status today: not open, so no real item has signal numbers yet. Shared: the public item, a few words on how it went, WordPress and PHP versions. Never shared: site addresses, prompts, code.
